Advent Reflections: Sharing love this week

Advent is such a beautiful time to pause and think about Jesus—God’s amazing gift of love to us. It’s a season filled with anticipation and reflection, where we’re invited to slow down and focus on the immense love God showed by sending His Son to be with us. Lighting the Advent candle of love reminds us of 1 John 4:19: “We love because he first loved us.” This truth is the heartbeat of how we’re meant to love in all our relationships.

Let’s be real: the holidays can be magical, but they can also be stressful. With packed schedules, family dynamics, and financial worries, it’s easy to let stress take over. For many of us, this season involves juggling family expectations, coordinating busy schedules, and trying to make everything special. But these moments are the perfect time to hit pause and refocus on the kind of love Jesus showed—a love that’s selfless, patient, and full of grace.

Small acts of love can go a long way to brighten someone’s day and show God’s love.

This kind of love doesn’t have to be about big, dramatic gestures. Sometimes it’s the little things that mean the most: offering a listening ear to a friend, saying “I’m sorry” first, or surprising someone with their favorite treat. It’s the love that “always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres” (1 Corinthians 13:7).

This week, try setting aside intentional time to reflect on God’s love and how you can share it with others. You could start a new tradition, like reading a daily Advent devotional, taking evening walks to enjoy the festive lights, or setting aside time to serve in your community. Even in this season’s busyness, find moments to connect with others. Small acts of love can go a long way to brighten someone’s day and show God’s love.

As we celebrate Love Incarnate this Advent, let’s let that love overflow into every part of our lives. When we do, our actions become a reflection of the hope and joy that Jesus brings—a light shining in the world around us.

Let’s make this Advent season one where love isn’t just something we feel but something we show—to our families, our friends, and everyone we meet.

Reflection: Advent reminds us of God’s unending love. Let’s reflect this love by embracing grace, kindness, and patience in our daily lives, becoming beacons of hope and joy for those around us.

Prayer: “Lord, thank You for Your endless love. Help us reflect Your grace and kindness, sharing love with everyone this Advent. Amen.”
